Adaptations - Lady Chatterley

After the screening of Lady Chatterley based on the novel by D.H. Lawrence, there will be a meeting with the Writer Avirama Golan.

Avirama Golan is a publicist, writer and translator. She has been a member of the editorial board of Ha’aretz since 1996 and writes journalistic essays, especially concerning society, women’s status and human rights. In December 2004, her first novel, “The Ravens”, was published, and her second one, “Vital Signs”, in February 2008, both by Hakibbutz Hameuchad/Siman Kriah.

Adaptations - the Captive

The screening of The Captive, which is based on the book by Marcel Proust, will be followed by a meeting with Prof. Juliette Hassine from the Comparative Literature department in Bar-Ilan University, who specializes in the aesthetics of Proust.

Prof. Juliette Hassine has a BA in French and General Literature from Bar-Ilan University and a PhD from the Sorbonne University in Paris. She is a senior member of the Comparative Literature department in Bar-Ilan University. Her research focuses mainly on the aesthetics of Marcel Proust and his connection to the creations of Baudelaire and Dostoevsky, as well as to Jewish culture. She wrote many essays in this field as well as four books that were published in scientific publications in France, in the Scientific Institute for Research of Text and Manuscripts of Marcel Proust, in which she is a member.
In addition, she wrote various books and essays in Hebrew about the relation between Marcel Proust and David Shahar.

Adaptations - Orlando

After the screening of Orlando based on the novel by Virginia Woolf, there will be a meeting with the writer Judith Katzir.

Judith Katzir started publishing short stories in the Israeli newspapers in the 1980’s. Her first novellas collection “Closing the Sea”, which she published in her twenties, gained her great attention and publicity. Her books published till date are: “Closing the Sea”, “Matisse Has the Sun in His Belly”, “Inland Lighthouses”, “Dearest Anne”, ”Haifa Stories” and “Tel Aviv Stories”. Her books published by Hakibbutz Hameuchad/Siman Kriah contributed to the discussion of female and feminist literature in Hebrew. In addition, Katzir wrote a play, realized by the Cameri Theater, about the first Hebrew author Dvora Baron, and in 2006 she gave a series of lectures at the Tel Aviv University about “A Portrait of the Artist as a Young woman – reading in Bildungsromans of women authors”. Katzir won the Prime Minister`s Prize twice in the years 1996 and 2007.
