To See if I’m Smiling

Israel, 2007

Six Israeli women talk about their service in the Israeli army, in the Occupied Territories. The drama of a never ending war and the moral challenges that rise on encounters with the Palestinian population are discussed from a feminine point of view. The women critically look back on the way they handled the power that was placed in their hands at the young age of eighteen. Questions that were not dealt with during the service are raised today with great pain. The film won the prize for Best Documentary in the 2007 Haifa Film Festival.
